The Tree of Light

This Christmas, the Lions and Rotary Clubs in Horncastle are working together so that people associated with the town and local area can remember someone close to them who has died and, at the same time, make a contribution to important local charities.

By donating money to the appeal, one of the bulbs on the Tree of Light will be dedicated and lit to the memory of the nominated person, with all proceeds being passed on to the selected charities.

The Charities selected for support this year are

The St Barnabas Hospice Lincolnshire UK Trust

The Butterfly Hospice Trust, Boston
The St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice

In return, the name of the person remembered will be shown on this website, displayed near the tree and published in the Horncastle News.  All donors will receive a Christmas Card in acknowledgement of their gift.

The Tree of Light is situated close to the town centre at Stowe Corner, at the junction of East Street and South Street.  A living Christmas tree, it was planted by the Lions Club some time ago and is growing steadily taller as each year goes by.  Now that it is getting better known, it is hoped that we can easily exceed 300 sponsored bulbs.  Date for tree lighting (switch on) is Friday 15th December and it will remain lit throughout the Christmas period.
